YOUNGSTOWN, FL (WAVY/CNN) — They say beans, beans are good for the heart.
But they also helped catch a suspect.
A deputy chucked a can of beans to help take down a man at a grocery store in Florida.
Surveillance video shows a knife-wielding man wearing black in one of the aisles. Major Jimmy Stanford was standing next to cans of baked beans, when he grabbed one and started throwing.
Stanford hit the suspect twice. It was just enough for police to rush him and take him down.
Police charged the suspect, 25-year-old Justin Stanford, with assault with a deadly weapon on a law enforcement officer and assault.
Justin Stanford was taken to the hospital for injuries he sustained in a car crash prior to the incident.
While there, Stanford attempted to get a gun from a deputy who was guarding him at the emergency room. He was then charged with resisting arrest with violence.
