MYAKKA CITY, Fla. (WFLA) – The Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission is investigating after two small alligators were found dead with their tails cut off in Myakka City.

On Sunday morning, the two dead alligators were spotted off of Wauchula Road.

Crystal Ingramm says she saw the gators while passing through the area.

In Florida, it is a felony to kill or injure an alligator.

A FWC spokesperson said the agency received a call about the alligators on May 13.

The FWC is investigating to see if a crime occurred.

Alligators can be hunted during a special alligator harvest each year. Participants must obtain a state permit to harvest an alligator.

News Channel 8 will have more details as they become available.
