VIRGINIA BEACH, Va. (WAVY) — You may see and hear increased activity at Naval Air Station (NAS) Oceana October 31 through November 1.
The base will be conducting training exercises designed to enhance the readiness of the installation security forces. The training events are not in response to any specific threat.
Officials warn you may hear reports of security issues on the installation but remind you this is only an exercise.
Steps will be taken to minimize disruption to normal base operations and to the community surrounding NAS Oceana. Slight impacts to traffic may occur near the base’s installation gates.
Short, intermittent closures of the the main and back gates may occur during the training period.
