NAGS HEAD, N.C. (WAVY) — The town of Nags Head says it will begin a nourishment project in May to place 10 miles of sand on its beach.
Town officials say the project could last through October.
The sand will be placed from the Bonnett Street public beach access near Mile Post 11 to to the town line with the National Park Service, officials say.
The town does not expect to have a schedule released for the project until April.
Officials also say the eventual scheduled will likely change often due to factors like weather conditions. More than one section of the beach is exepcted to be impacted during the project.
