More than 1 million Girl Scout Cookies arrive in Hampton Roads

HAMPTON ROADS, Va. (WAVY) — Brace yourself, because more than 1 million boxes of Girl Scout Cookies have hit the region.

The boxes of Thin Mints, Samoas and more will be sold until March 24 (or until they sell out) at several different locations.

Organizers say 800,000 boxes were picked up in just a seven-hour span.

On Sunday, kids started selling the treats outside of local businesses.

At a “Uniform to Uniform” event in Norfolk, officers got the change to stop by and grab a couple boxes of cookies to go.

The Girl Scout Cookie Program leads the U.S. for financial literacy education and entrepreneurial skills. Through the program, girls learn goal setting, decision making, money management, people skills and business ethics.
