Medical Center at Fort Eustis announces drug recall

NEWPORT NEWS, Va. (WAVY) — At the beginning of this month The U.S. Food and Drug Administration announced a recall of several drug products that are used to treat high blood pressure, due to a potential cancer risk. These recalls have been linked to the active ingredient Valsartan.

McDonald Army Health Center (MCAHC) at Joint Base Langley-Eustis has now announced a voluntary recall of the blood pressure medication Valsartan and Hydrochlorothiazide combination tablets. Only the combination medication is affected.The pharmacy has asked that you take the time to inspect your tablets.

Affected prescriptions include:

If you have any of the listed tablets in your possession the pharmacy requests that you bring in your remaining tablets to the Health Center Main Pharmacy for replacement. They will only be accepting returns for prescriptions filled at the McDonald Army Health Center Pharmacy locations.
