WILLIAMSBURG, Va. (WAVY) — Officials are trying to figure out what sparked a fire at an apartment complex in Williamsburg.

Firefighters responded to the Woods of Williamsburg apartments around 10:30 Saturday night. When they got there they found fire in several units in one building.

Crews quickly contained the fire, but two units suffered heavy damage.

The fire forced everyone in the building from their homes for the night.

Officials say no one was hurt, and the Red Cross is assisting the victims,

Nearby residents who saw the building go up in flames say they are still in shock, but are very pleased with how the fire department handled the situation.

“Like first truck, second truck, then it’s all trucks lined up and everybody water blowing from this side, blowing from that side. It’s less than like 4 minutes they get the fire under control,” said Indravijaysinh Chudasama.
