Man who led troopers, police on chase to serve 1 year

VIRGINIA BEACH, Va. (WAVY) — A Virginia Beach man who led troopers on a chase in 2018 will serve a little over one year in prison.

Virginia State Police troopers clocked James Hill going 83 in a 55 on Interstate 264 last June.

Hill refused to pull over, leading troopers and Virginia Beach police on a miles-long chase in his car, on foot and eventually through a canal.

In court on Wednesday, a judge sentenced Hill was sentenced to 84 months behind bars with 70 suspended — leaving hill with a year and two months to serve.
