CHESAPEAKE, Va. (WAVY) — A man who was stuck chest-deep in a marsh was rescued Wednesday morning by Chesapeake firefighters.

Officials with the Chesapeake Fire Department said units were called to S. Military Highway and Shell Road — in the Deep Creek area — around 7:30 a.m.

Firefighters arrived on scene to find the man yelling for help. The man was safely pulled out of the marsh just after 8 a.m.

Officials said the man’s injuries indicated that he had been in the water for “some time.” The man was taken to an area hospital, but the extent of his injuries was not immediately known.
