Man stabbed in chest outside Big Apple Food Mart in Newport News

NEWPORT NEWS, Va. (WAVY) — A man was taken to the hospital Monday afternoon after a stabbing outside the Big Apple Food Mart on Roanoke Avenue. 

The 38-year-old man’s stab wound to the chest is considered non life-threatening, according to police spokesperson Sgt. Randal Bailey. 

Police were called to the scene in the 3300 block of Roanoke Ave. at 2:14 p.m. 

Bailey says no suspect information is available at this time, and it’s unclear what led to the stabbing in front of the store. Anyone with information is asked to call the Crime Line at 1-888-LOCK-U-UP.
