Man shot, killed on MacDonald Road in Chesapeake

CHESAPEAKE, Va. (WAVY) — A man is dead after an early morning shooting in the 1300 block of MacDonald Road on Sunday. 

Chesapeake police say they were dispatched to the scene around 1:40 a.m. in reference to gunshots being heard in the area and a report of an injured person.  When they arrived on scene, they found a man with multiple gunshot wounds lying in the breezeway of the residence on MacDonald Road.

The man was taken to Norfolk General Hospital where he was later pronounced dead, according to police.

Police later identified him as 38-year-old Ronald Cherry.

Police do not have any suspect information and no arrests have been made.
