Man hit in elbow in drive-by shooting on Roanoke Avenue in Newport News

NEWPORT NEWS, Va. (WAVY) — Officers are investigating after a 68-year-old man was shot in the elbow in a drive-by shooting Sunday night in Newport News. 

The call for the shooting in the 7800 block of Roanoke Avenue came in at 9:15 p.m., according to dispatch.

Officers found the man outside his home with a non life-threatening gunshot wound to the elbow. He was treated at the scene and not taken to the hospital, according to police. 

The man told police he was outside when a black vehicle drove by and a person inside fired shots. Police say the man’s home was also damaged by the gunfire.
