Man found dead inside truck in Poquoson identified; death investigated as suspicious

POQUOSON, Va. (WAVY) — A investigation is underway after a man was found dead in Poquoson on Monday morning, police say.

Poquoson police chief Clifford Bowen said dispatchers received a call just after a 9:30 a.m. about someone who was unconcious inside of a pickup truck on Locust Run. 

Bowen said responding medics found a man, identified Tuesday as 38-year-old Carl A. Emmett, dead inside of the pickup. There were no obvious signs of trauma to Emmett’s body. 

His death is being investigated as suspicious, and Poquoson detectives want to talk with anyone who may have in contact with Emmett between Friday, February 1 and Saturday, February 2. Those with info are asked to contact the Pouquoson Police Department at 757-868-3501. 

Poquoson police are working with deputies from the York-Poquoson Sheriff’s Office and the Office of the Norfolk Medical Examiner.
