NORFOLK, Va., (WAVY) — A man died at the hospital three days after police say he was shot in a Norfolk neighborhood.

Norfolk police said officers responded to the 2300 block of Barraud Avenue, off Tidewater Drive, at 8:45 p.m. on Monday, Dec. 2, 2018.

When officers arrived on the scene, they found the man suffering from a life-threatening gunshot wound.  Medics transported the man to Sentara Norfolk General Hospital.

Police said the man, 39-year-old Timothy L. Rogers, died from his injuries on Dec. 5.

10 On Your Side spoke with Veronica McElroy who said she heard gunshots from inside her house.
She ran outside and saw an officer rushing over to a man on the ground and attempting live saving procedures.

“The cop saw him on the ground and immediately rushed to him and was reviving him. It was with no hesitation,” said McElroy.

She says her heart immediately starting beating and worry took over.

“We’re a tight community so we look after each other. So my thing was do I know him?” she explained. “I just pray for the family really pray for the family.”

An investigation is still underway. If you have any information, Norfolk police are asking you to contact them @nfvacrimeline or call 1-888-LOCK-U-UP.
