NORFOLK, Va. (WAVY) — A man killed following a two-vehicle crash Sunday night on Norview Avenue in Norfolk has been identified as 23-year-old Austin Cook.
Norfolk police said the crash happened in the 1400 block of Norview, near the Interstate 64 overpass, around 6 p.m.
Police said an investigation found Cook was driving east on Norview when he lost control of his vehicle, crossed over into the westbound lanes and was hit by a Ford F-150.
Police said Cook was taken to Sentara Norfolk General Hospital with serious injuries, but was later pronounced dead. The driver of the Ford was taken to the hospital, but is expected to be OK.
The east and westbound lanes of Norview Avenue were closed for several hours Sunday evening as police investigated the crash.
According to police, the findings of its investigation will be turned over to the Office of the Norfolk Commonwealth’s Attorney for review.
