PORTSMOUTH, Va. (WAVY) — A man is dead after an overnight shooting in Portsmouth on Saturday.
Officers were called to Woodland Street and Aylwin Road just before 12:20 a.m. for reports of a person who had been shot.
When officers arrived, they found 39-year-old Jesse R. Coulter with a life-threatening gunshot wound to the torso. Paramedics took him to the hospital, where he was later pronounced dead.
10 On Your Side spoke with the victim’s family. “He did not deserve this at all. I don’t care whoever did this, ya’ll deserve everything ya’ll have got coming to ya’ll and I hope they find ya’ll and I hope ya’ll get everything ya’ll deserve,” said one member of the family.
“There’s no understanding this. There’s no way to wrap our minds around this. And if we don’t get some closure I don’t see how any of us are going to be able to move forward,” said another member of the victim’s family.
