VIRGINIA BEACH, Va. (WAVY) — A man charged with trespassing at an elementary school in Virginia Beach was denied bond in a hearing Friday morning.
Virginia Beach police said Joseph Andrew Miller intruded at Thalia Elementary School on May 29.
School officials said they were not sure what Miller was doing, but say they don’t believe he was there to harm the kids. “He was fearful, disoriented and didn’t have any shoes on his feet,” said Dick Ponti, head of school security.
Miller said in court Wednesday he didn’t mean to go inside the school, claiming he was dropped off there to get some help. His trial is scheduled for July 10.
