JAMES CITY COUNTY, Va. (WAVY) — A man has been charged with assault after police say another man was found bloody and bruised at a James City County home.

James City County police said Todd Russell was arrested the night of Christmas Eve after officers were called to a home on Judy Drive for a reported assault.

Police said officers found a 60-year-old man with blood coming from his mouth and his closed, swollen and bruised eye. This man also reportedly had swelling on the right side of his face and head.

Russell, who was also at the home when officers arrived, had swelling on one of his hands as well as blood on his face and hands, police said.

Police charged Russell with assault and battery and felonious assault due to the nature of the other man’s injuries. Russell is currently being held at Virginia Peninsula Regional Jail.
