GLOUCESTER, Va. (WAVY) — A man is facing charges after authorities say he broke into another person’s home in Gloucester County twice in one day.
The Gloucester County Sheriff’s Office said in a news release deputies responded to the 7800 block of Guinea Road Monday evening for a report of a suspicious person who was seen on the back deck of a home.
The sheriff’s office said the homeowner was not there at the time.
Deputies responded to investigate, and discovered that the suspect — 32-year-old Jared Luke Rainville — was still inside. Rainville reportedly ran when deputies entered the home, fleeing into the woods.
The sheriff’s office said a perimeter was set and a K-9 officer was deployed along with a special operations unit. Virginia State Police troopers shut down parts of Guinea Road while deputies sought Rainville.
Deputies were unable to find him during these search efforts, however.
The sheriff’s office said Rainville was caught just hours later after he broke into the home a second time while the homeowner was there.
Rainville has been charged with two counts of breaking and entering, petit larceny, attempting to willfully conceal evidence to obstruct an investigation and failure to obey a lawful order.
The sheriff’s office said Rainville has been linked to several other crimes within the county and could face other charges.
