NORFOLK, Va. (WAVY) — A Norfolk man has been charged with malicious wounding in connection with a stabbing on Avon Road.

Police responded to the call around 3 a.m. Thursday for a report of two stabbing victims. When officers arrived in the 6300 block of Avon Road, they found two adult men inside a home suffering from non life- threatening stab wounds.

One 54-year-old man was transported to Sentara Norfolk General Hospital. The other man, James William Miles, 55, was treated at Bon Secours DePaul Medical Center.

The investigation revealed the two men, who are acquaintances, got into a verbal altercation that escalated. Miles, of Norfolk, produced a knife and stabbed the other man, police say.

Miles is currently being held in the Norfolk City Jail without bond.
