Man charged in child’s death in Outer Banks out on bond


CURRITUCK, N.C. (WAVY) — A Pennsylvania man facing charges in connection to a child’s death on the Outer Banks in July bonded out of jail earlier this month. 

Thomas Imschweiler was released from jail on Nov. 19 after his bond for murder and child abuse was set to $2.7 million.

Imschweiler was in Corolla on vacation at the time of the child’s death on July 22. Deputies responded to a house on Lakeview Court for a 4-month-old child who was not breathing. 

The child was taken to a Children’s Hospital of the King’s Daughter for medical care, where the child later died. 

Imschweiler is back in court on February 4, 2019 for a superior administrative session.
