HARRISONBURG, Va. (WAVY) — A Harrisonburg man turned himself in to police on Tuesday after hitting and critically injuring a James Madison University student from Williamsburg.

On August 24, Jared Antle, 19, was trying to get into a vehicle that was stopped in the right lane in the 400 block of West Market Street just before midnight when a black Honda Pilot struck Antle and the vehicle he was entering.

Antle suffered serious head injuries and doctors are working to reduce brain swelling, according to family members.

Twenty-six-year-old Mashkhal Khalid Ibrahim turned himself into Rockingham/Harrisonburg Regional Jail in Harrisonburg and has been charged with felony hit-and-run.
