Man charged after shooting leaves another man injured


UPDATE (Feb. 27): Police say 43-year-old Omar Shariff Evans was arrested and charged with aggravated malicious wounding, shooting into an occupied dwelling, and use of a firearm in a felony.

Evans is currently being held at Hampton City Jail.


HAMPTON, Va. (WAVY) — Police are investigating after a shooting Monday evening that sent a man to the hospital.

Police say the shooting happened around 6:30 p.m. in the 700 block of Kecoughtan Road. When they arrived, officers found an adult male suffering from a single gunshot wound.

He was taken to the hospital for what medics consider to be a life-threatening injury.
