Man burned after vehicles, garage catch fire in Chesapeake

CHESAPEAKE, Va. (WAVY) — Fire officials are investigating after a man was significantly burned in a garage fire in the Hickory section of the city. 

The fire happened around 4:40 p.m. Monday in the 2000 block of Pine Forest Lane. 

Firefighters arrived and found two vehicles on fire in the driveway, and the flames spread to a large attached garage. 

The homeowner was taken to Sentara Norfolk General Hospital for treatment.

Officials say firefighters were able to extinguish the fire quickly and avoid extra damage to the garage. The fire was officially brought under control at 5:02 p.m. The home’s living space wasn’t affected by the flames.
