NORFOLK, Va. (WAVY) — While Norfolk police have already arrested a suspect in the shooting death of William & Mary football player Nathan Evans, they say another man was arrested in the process of the investigation.
Jerry Spady was arrested the day after Evans was fatally shot on W. 43rd St. near Old Dominion University on March 21. Police say Spady was arrested at the department’s police operations center at 11:30 p.m. and charged with possession of a firearm.
However, police have not said whether Spady is a suspect in Evans’ death, only that he was arrested while police were investigating.
The suspect in the case, 20-year-old Kri’Shawn D. Beamon, was charged with second-degree murder on Monday, police said.
Beamon is also charged with robbery and two counts of use of a firearm in the commission of a felony in connection to the 19-year-old William & Mary sophomore’s death.
Jail records show Spady is being held without bond in the case.
