Man arrested after multiple shots fired into buildings, vehicles

ELIZABETH CITY, N.C. (WAVY) – One man was arrested after shots were fired into several buildings and vehicles near the Viking Village apartments early Saturday morning.

Police responded to the 1600 block of Halsted Boulevard for shots fired at 3 a.m. When officers got to the scene, they saw a large crowd of people running from the area. 

Police say multiple buildings and vehicles were shot during this incident, and found an AK-47 with several fired shell casings. 

No one was hurt during this incident. 

Later, 26-year-old Tyquiris Cofield was arrested for two counts of discharging a firearm into a occupied dwelling, four counts of injury to personal property, going arm to the terror of the public, and possession of a firearm by a convicted felon.

Cofield is being held at the Albemarle District Jail under a $112,000.00 secured bond.
