VIRGINIA BEACH, Va. (WAVY) — A man is in police custody after one person died and another was injured in connection to what police are calling a domestic incident.

Virginia Beach police said the arrest of 33-year-old Roel Ray Delua stemmed from a house fire and a hit-and-run crash that were reported minutes apart in the 1700 block of Rose Petal Drive just after 8 p.m. Monday.
A police spokesperson said a woman was hit by a vehicle that was fleeing the house. The woman was taken to the hospital with injuries that did not appear to be life-threatening.
A man, identified Wednesday as 32-year-old John Kilgore, was found inside the burning home and was later pronounced dead. His death is being investigated as a homicide, police said.
Officers arrested Delua six hours later at the Salem Crossing Walmart. He was charged felonious assault and felony hit-and-run, and is expected to face additional charges.
Fire officials said the house damaged in the fire has been condemned.
