MATHEWS, Va. (WAVY) — A youth leader from Mathews is accused of sexually abusing a 15-year-old boy at a local church.

Kenneth Scott Marshall, 36, was arrested during a traffic stop on July 16 in connection to the allegations, which were investigated over a month-long period, according to Mathews County Sheriff’s Office.

The sheriff’s office did not specify the church where the alleged abuse took place.

After being notified of the alleged incident, investigators say they conducted multiple interviews that substantiated the allegations against Marshall.

Marshall, of the 900 block of Marsh Hawk Road, was indicted on Monday on charges of aggravated sexual battery of a minor through the use of mental incapacity or physical helplessness and forcible sodomy of a minor through the use of mental incapacity or physical helplessness.

He’s being held in the Middle Peninsula Regional Security Center without bond.
