Man accused of crashing stolen car and hitting Newport News officer

NEWPORT NEWS, Va. (WAVY)- Newport News Police said they arrested a man suspected of taking a car without permission and crashing into a pole before attacking an officer November 28.

Officers said a 35-year-old Hampton woman told them during a conversation on Old Denbigh Road 33-year-old Jermaine Jones took her car. Police said Jones got irate when they tried to talk with him about the complaint. 

Police said Jones tried to walk away from them and hit and officer in the face. Investigators caught him and charged him with Assault on Law Enforcement, Unauthorized Use of Vehicle, Disorderly Conduct, License Revoked, and Failure to Report Accident Damage.
