VIRGINIA BEACH, Va. (WAVY) — A Virginia Beach man is facing four years in prison after he pleaded guilty this week to ten counts of possession of child pornography.

The Office of Attorney General Mark Herring announced the sentencing for 58-year-old Jeffrey Dirocco in a news release on Thursday.

The release said an investigation into Dirocco began in 2015 after an undercover agent with Virginia State Police downloaded several images of child pornography through a peer-to-peer network.

An investigation found Dirocco was distributing the child pornography from his Virginia Beach home.

The release said Dirocco admitted to having hundreds of files on his computer saved, saved within a peer-to-peer network, that he had been using for years after authorities searched his home.

An examination of his laptop found more than 1,500 videos of child pornography. Another 34 videos were discovered on a digital camera and flash drive, the release said.

The images recovered showed children being sexually abused. Some of these children were identified by the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children as abuse victims in prior law enforcement investigation, the release said.
