School bus rear-ends pickup truck near Town Center of Va. Beach

VIRGINIA BEACH, Va. (WAVY) — Police say a school bus driver was issued a summons following a crash Tuesday morning near Town Center of Virginia Beach.

A Virginia Beach Police spokesperson said the crash at Independence Boulevard and Jericho Road was reported just before 8:15 a.m.

The school bus was going north on Independence when it rear-ended a pickup truck, which was pushed into an SUV. A person inside the SUV was taken to the hospital with minor injuries.

Virginia Beach City Public Schools says 27 students were on board the bus, which was headed to Old Donation School at the time of the crash. None of the students were injured.

The driver of school bus was issued a summons for following too close, police said.
