Woman suffers life-threatening injuries in shooting on Brendle Court; teen taken into custody

VIRGINIA BEACH, Va. (WAVY) — Police are investigating a shooting that seriously injured a woman early Wednesday.

Dispatch said the call came at 1:40 a.m. for the shooting in the 1500 block of Brendle Court. The victim was transported with life-threatening injuries.

According to police, their investigation found that a teenager who lives in the same house as the victim, accidentally fired a gun, striking the victim.

Police took the teen into custody. He was charged with reckless handling of a firearm, obstruction of justice and underage possession of a firearm.
