NC pair wanted on kidnapping, prostitution charges caught in Va. Beach

Virginia Beach

VIRGINIA BEACH, Va. (WAVY) — Authorities say two people wanted on kidnapping and sexual servitude charges in North Carolina were arrested in Virginia Beach this week.

The Alamance County Sheriff’s Office said Christopher Gray Stevenson and Amanda Lynn Starr were caught on Tuesday, May 7, after it received information leading to a location in Virginia.

The pair’s charges stemmed from an investigation into a missing person who was reportedly last seen in the Alamance County area, which is just west of Durham.

Deputies received a report about this person on May 4.

Authorities said deputies stopped a vehicle that was believed to be involved in the person’s disappearance. During the stop, deputies found evidence which led them to believe this person was being held against their will – possibly in connection to the commercial sex industry.

Deputies eventually found the missing person, but their identity is being withheld due to the ongoing investigation.

Authorities said deputies searched an apartment building in Graham, North Carolina, after warrants were obtained for Stevenson and Starr. Both suspects are being charged with first-degree kidnapping, sexual servitude of an adult victim and promoting prostitution for profits.
