Driver cited for disregarding stop sign after seriously injuring moped driver, police say

VIRGINIA BEACH (WAVY) — A moped driver was struck by a 2007 Nissan Versa on Thursday morning on Elbow Road in Virginia Beach.

The crash was at the intersection with Margaret Drive around 9:20 a.m.

Police say the driver of a Nissan Versa tried to turn left on to Elbow Road from Margaret Drive when they struck the moped, which was heading east on Elbow Road. The driver of the moped was seriously hurt and taken to the hospital.

The driver of the sedan was cited for disregarding a stop sign.

Elbow Road was closed at the crash site but has since reopened.
