VIRGINIA BEACH, Va. (WAVY) — Court documents revealed what police say is the motive in the death of a Virginia Beach teen.

Last week, 17-year-old Christopher Ross was gunned down on Elson Green Avenue on Tuesday.

19-year-old Jacob Meadows faces a second-degree murder charge in his death, and 3 juveniles also face charges in connection to the case.

10 On Your Side obtained a search warrant that reveals how police say it all happened.

The paperwork says Ross was found shot to death outside the home on Elson Green Road.

An officer got a tip from witnesses that a car with five people inside left the scene. Officers were able to track down that car and court documents say everyone inside was taken into custody.

Back at the house, officers were still on scene helping Ross when someone pulled into the driveway. Ross’ brother told police that driver was involved in the shooting, so they took the driver into custody too.

In an interview, the driver confessed to police that he and Jacob Meadows were dealing weed out of the home.

In the search warrant, he said they were in the middle of a drug deal with Ross when he ran off with the bag of weed.

Paperwork says the driver and Meadows chased after him and that’s when Meadows shot him, with a search warrant saying police found a large bag of weed next to Ross’ body.

In the court documents, the driver also said he gets weed from Meadows and then redistributes it.

Meadows is scheduled to appear again on the murder and firearm charge on December 21.
