VIRGINIA BEACH, Va. (WAVY) — Three people were displaced after a home in Virginia Beach was damaged in a fire Friday morning.

Fire department officials said firefighters from Virginia Beach and Chesapeake responded to the 500 block of Avalon Avenue — which is less than a mile from Providence Road — just after 5:35 p.m.

Responding units found a fire in the attic space of a finished apartment. The fire was marked under control just before 6 a.m., officials said.

There was minor fire damage and significant smoke damage to the home.

Officials said three people who live at the home were displaced. No injuries were reported.

The cause of the fire is under investigation.
