Police investigating alleged threat from Nansemond-Suffolk Academy student

SUFFOLK, Va. (WAVY) — Administrators at Nansemond-Suffolk Academy say they have been made aware of a disturbing photo and an alleged threat shared on social media by a student.

In a message to families, Head of School Debbie Russell said the Suffolk Police Department has been informed of the alleged threat and is handling the investigation.

Russell said in the message the Upper School student responsible for the message will not be returning to the academy.

We encourage you to help your child understand the serious implications that can result from inappropriate social media posts. Please confirm with them the important role they play in keeping our school safe and to report all potential threats or safety issues to an administrator or teacher. With your help, we will continue our commitment to maintaining a safe and secure learning environment for all students.
