Mr. Peanut returns in new doc coming to Suffolk Center for Cultural Arts’ Birdsong Theater

SUFFOLK, Va (WAVY) —  The iconic Mr. Peanut makes a cameo appearance in “The Virginia Peanut Story.” 

Six years in the making, the new documentary by producer Amy Drewry and the nonprofit Western Tidewater Virginia Heritage, Inc., features Andrew Smith, author of Peanuts: The Illustrious History of the Goober Pea, and food historian Michel Twiddy, as well as scientists, local farmers and peanut retailers.

The new 57-minute film is scheduled to premiere at the Suffolk Center for Cultural Arts’ Birdsong Theater  on Wednesday, May 15. at 7 p.m. It’ll later air on public television. 

The screening is free and open to the public, but reservations are encouraged and can be made online at SuffolkCenter.org, or by calling 757-923-0003.
