SUFFOLK, Va. (WAVY) — A 13-year-old student has been charged in connection to a bomb threat at Colonial Fred Cherry Middle School on Wednesday, Nov. 1.

Just after 10 a.m., a school administrator called Suffolk Emergency Communications to report the threat.

Colonial Fred Cherry Middle School in Suffolk was evacuated and swept by police and the Fire Marshal’s office.

No threat was found and students and staff were given the all clear to re-enter the building.

As per the Code of VA Section §18.2-83, for those that are under 15 years of age, this is a Class I Misdemeanor punishable by up to one year in jail and a $2,500 fine. If individuals are 15 years of age or over the offense becomes a Class V Felony.

The incident is still under investigation.
