Portsmouth Police building being evacuated after pipe bursts

Portsmouth

PORTSMOUTH, Va. (WAVY) — The Portsmouth Police Department building is being evacuated after a pipe burst Wednesday night into Thursday, a city official says.

City spokesperson Dana Woodson said crews were brought in Wednesday to extract water and precondition against mold.

The city is focusing on relocating police and sheriff’s office personnel who work in the building. Staff are being moved out of the building along with items, Woodson said.

There is no timetable for when staff will be allowed back in the building.
