Man charged with murder after fatal shooting in Olde Towne Portsmouth


PORTSMOUTH, Va. (WAVY) — A man has been arrested and charged with murder after another man was fatally shot late Monday night in Portsmouth.

Officers responded to the 400 block of High Street in Olde Towne around 11:50 p.m. for a gunshot wound call. The victim, 32-year-old Brandon Edwards, died after being taken to the hospital.

Police announced Tuesday afternoon that they arrested 43-year-old William J. Pickens II and charged him with first-degree murder, use of a firearm in the commission of a felony and reckless handling of a firearm.
