PORTSMOUTH, Va. (WAVY) — Portsmouth police are investigating after a woman was found shot early Friday morning on Elm Avenue.

According to dispatch, the incident occurred at 3 a.m. in the 1400 block of Elm Avenue, just south of I-264 and South Street.

Police say the woman’s wound isn’t considered life-threatening and she was taken to the hospital.

No other details have been released.
