Suspect arrested after homicide in Norfolk

NORFOLK, Va. (WAVY) - Police have arrested a man in connection to a Friday night homicide. 

Around 8:40 p.m. police were dispatched to the 900 block of Trice Terrace for the shooting.

When officers arrived, they discovered 44-year-old Hardley R. Henry of Norfolk, suffering with gunshot wounds. Henry was transported to Sentara Norfolk General Hospital where he later died from his injuries.

28-year-old Akeem J. Shelford into custody a short time later and has been charged with second degree murder and the use of a firearm in the commission of a felony.

Shelford is currently being held in the Norfolk City Jail without bond. Detectives are not looking for any additional suspects.
