Police: Man dies after shooting on Reilly Street in Norfolk

NORFOLK, Va. (WAVY) — Norfolk police say a man died after sustaining life-threatening injuries in a shooting Tuesday night on Reilly Street.

Dispatchers say the call came in reporting the incident in the 300 block of Reilly Street at 6:55 p.m.

Norfolk Police say the man has been identified as 48-year-old Terry A. Hendricks.

People in the neighborhood called him “Peanut.” Neighbors say he hung out at the Shell Station on Monticello Avenue.

A clerk told us he often came inside to “play his numbers.” She also remembered him from the neighborhood where she grew up. She said he was a nice man, and she cannot believe the way he died.

Police say he was taken to Sentara Norfolk General Hospital, where he was pronounced dead.

Detectives have yet to release additional details in the case, but have classified the shooting as a homicide.
