Person with gunshot wound walks into DePaul Medical Center, dispatchers say

NORFOLK, Va. (WAVY) — Dispatchers say a person with a gunshot wound walked into Bon Secours DePaul Medical Center Thursday night.

Dispatchers say the person has injuries but they aren’t considered life-threatening.

The emergency call reporting the gunshot wound came in at 11:41 p.m.

The person was transported in a private vehicle.

According to a police incident report, the victim said he was walking down the sidewalk when a person came up beside him and got in front of him.

The victim saw the suspect’s lips moving but didn’t hear what the person said.

He felt a hard object being pushed into his shoulder as the suspect began tugging on his jacket pocket.

The victim flinched and the gun went off, according to the report.

He then ran to a friend’s house and said he’d been shot. The friend drove him to Depaul Medical Center.

Police met the victim at the hospital.
