The construction of the building made it difficult for crews to access the fire and extinguish it. Firefighters worked to open the walls of the building to get access to the fire and bring it under control, according to tweets.

Fire-rescue officials stated on Twitter shortly after 4:30 a.m. that the fire was under control. Crews were expected to remain on scene for an extended period of time to watch for hot spots.

Two firefighters were taken to the hospital for evaluation.
