Suspect detained after shooting in Newport News

NEWPORT NEWS, Va. (WAVY) — A Williamsburg man has life-threatening injuries after an early morning shooting in Newport News. 

Police say they received the call for the shooting at 4:24 a.m. in the 300 block of Lee’s Mill drive.

Officers say it was reported that the 33-year-old victim had gotten into a fight with another adult male when he was shot. The male victim was transported to a local hospital with life-threatening injuries. 

Police say they have the male shooter detained and the investigation is ongoing.
