Man taken to hospital, boy suffers graze wound in shooting on Madison Avenue in Newport News

NEWPORT NEWS, Va. (WAVY) — A 35-year-old man was taken to a hospital and a boy was injured after a shooting Tuesday night in Newport News, police said.

Police said the shooting was reported in the 4600 block of Madison Avenue. Dispatchers said it was near the intersection of 45th Street and Madison Avenue.

The call came in reporting the incident at 6:50 p.m.

Officers responded to a parking lot and found the 35-year-old with a gunshot wound. His injury isn’t believed to be life-threatening. He was taken to a local hospital.

A male juvenile was also found with a graze wound. He declined treatment.

There was no information released on any suspect or suspects. No one is in custody, police said.

Police said the investigation is ongoing.
