8 people taken to hospitals following crash in Newport News

NEWPORT NEWS, Va. (WAVY) -- Eight people were taken to area hospitals Friday afternoon following a multi-vehicle crash in Newport News, officials say.

Battalion Chief Wesley Rogers with the Newport News Fire Department said crews responded to the crash on 39th Street and Roanoke Avenue just after 12:30 p.m.

Rogers said eight people, including adults and children, were taken to hospitals for treatment. The children were taken to Children's Hospital of the King's Daughters, while the adults went to Riverside Regional Medical Center.

It was not immediately clear exactly how many adults and how many children were injured. Their condition was also not immediately known.
