NEWPORT NEWS, Va. (WAVY) — Fourteen arrests were made for prostitution in Newport News late last month, police say.
Newport News police said officers conducted a street level prostitution operation on June 28 and 29 that targeted prostitutes and solicitors.
Four of the 14 arrests were narcotics-related, police said.
Francis Hileman, captain of the Organized Crime Division, said, “Our officers have worked very hard with citizens in gathering the intelligence necessary to make these 14 arrests over two days and we commend them for their work and contribution to making our city a better place to live.”
Police did not release details of the arrests on Thursday, citing ongoing investigations.
